A 3700 square foot self-build, residential, Eco-Home completed in Co. Galway, Ireland.
Our clients were looking to build their dream home. They sought a sustainable, energy-efficient house that would blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings and reduce their carbon footprint. With the client’s expecting twins, after cost, their main aim was to get the house built quickly.
Looking to implement the Georgian style, to an eco-friendly, high-quality, cost-effective modern build was always going to be a challenge. The clients were looking to build an A-rated eco home, but at an affordable cost in a rural location.
MMC Eco Homes provided a comprehensive solution using its innovative Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) system and integrated renewable technologies. The design included advanced thermal comfort features, air to water heat pumps, and ventilation system.
The house was designed to be delivered in entire wall sections, which slot together on site. This coupled with floor cassettes to speed up the build. The quality of the build was far superior to a comparable traditional build due to the high level of quality control, thermal comfort and wall build up.
The wall sections were completed in MMC Eco Home’s factory to plasterboard, including all windows and doors, and also allowing for electrical conduit and backboxes to be fitted to save time and money.
The MMC Eco Home’s system has undergone the highly renowned BOPAS 60 year durability assessment meaning it has an absolute minimum lifecycle of 60 years – giving peace of mind to our client’s that our units have the longevity of traditional building methods.
The client’s opted for a block and render facade.
Collaborative design phase with MMC Eco Homes and the client’s engineer to decide the best system to meet all their requirements.
Rapid assembly of the pre-fabricated SIPs panelised system, ensuring minimal environmental impact and faster construction time.
Installation of renewable energy systems, including solar panels and heat pumps, optimizing the home's energy efficiency leaving an A rated forever house.
